See his article here. He's
right. And it's up to us to change the system. But honestly, with which
President and Party do we have even a modicum of leverage?
If
Clinton wins--big if at this point--and she doesn't fulfill the
Democratic platform, then not only will she perhaps create the next
Trump but she will create Senator Warren as a primary challenger in
2020. And Warren will likely win that battle and go on to win the
Presidency.
The Sanders wing of the Party appeals to
voters for the same reason Trump does: feeling left out of a corrupt
system. But the Sanders wing, including Warren, has none of the baggage
of a Trump or a Clinton and has policies that will actually make a
difference in people's lives. And we know the Cornell Westies favor that
sort of candidate so they will unite behind Warren in that challenge.
Just the fact of that possibility will likely, but not assuredly, keep
Clinton on track. If not, we challenge in the primary.
And
if Trump wins and the GOP retains its majority, we have a long history
of what both have already done to accurately predict what will come.
And it most assuredly will be nothing like the Democratic platform. And certainly not spiritual in West's sense.
