Buddist monk diet

I'm wondering what those engaged in higher consciousness practices eat. I know, what constitutes 'higher' consciousness is up for debate. We've used Buddhist monks as one example that might represent this category, given their adroit meditative discipline. So let's look at the Tibetan Buddhist diet. We can also see here that different Buddhist sects have different takes on it, some even eating meat. There appear to be some similarities across sects, but with variations. Again, we do not find one universal agreement on all aspects of diet. Same holds true on the issue of what constitutes 'higher' consciousness.
