Warren: Get rid of the Electoral College

And let the voters decide. 12 States have already joined this movement.

Reich: Why unions matter

When unions were strong, workers wages grew with the economy. Workers had power to negotiate for better wages, benefits and working conditions. Hence corporate raiders, and their Repugnantan legislative cronies, fought to destroy unions because they didn't want those fair worker policies; they were greedy and wanted it all for themselves. With the decrease in unions the above worker benefits also decreased, the intended goal. No worker power, no fairness, more power and money for the greedy. Know the real cause of your suffering and organize and vote accordingly.

Stochastic terrorist

And here's the leader of that category.

And in-depth look at O'Rourke

From 538. He's more of a mixed-bag. The summary follows. See the link for a lot more detail.

"I might classify O’Rourke as fairly liberal on issues around culture and identity and left-leaning but maybe not particularly liberal — compared with, say, Sanders or Elizabeth Warren — on economic issues. (Cory Booker and Kamala Harris probably fall in this camp with O’Rourke.) Part of what’s confusing in assessing O’Rourke’s ideology is that the results are different depending on what benchmark you choose. Is he liberal compared with previous Democratic presidential candidates? Yes. Is he liberal compared with the activists dominating the discourse in the party now? No."

Russian troll farm expose

From an undercover infiltrator. It is a highly coordinated, 24/7 operation by the Internet Research Agency. After she exposed the IRA her Facebook account mysteriously disappeared for a short time, then was reinstated. That might have more to do with the Russian trolls flooding Facebook with complaints. A great expose for those who doubt the scope and reach of this cyber warfare against the US. Then again, that doubt it itself fed by these very Russian trolls.

To end climate chaos we must end capitalism

My recent paper , "From capitalism to the collaborative commons," agrees with this assessment.

"We need to fundamentally re-evaluate our relationship to ownership, work and capital. The impact of a dramatic reconfiguration of the industrial economy require similarly large changes to the welfare state. Basic incomes, large-scale public works programmes, everything has to be on the table to ensure that the oncoming system shocks do not leave vast swathes of the global population starving and destitute. Perhaps even more fundamentally, we cannot continue to treat the welfare system as a tool for disciplining the supposedly idle underclasses. Our system must be reformed with a more humane view of worklessness, poverty and migration than we have now."

"This is reality versus the vested interests of the powerful. Any meaningful policy has to upset the established power base and the political donor class. Any policy that doesn’t upset these people will be useless. To pretend that we can compromise our way through this while we wait for a magical, technological bullet that will keep temperatures down without costing us anything is beyond willful ignorance now. It is a question of basic morality."

Mindfulness makes us less biased

According to this article citing numerous studies. It lists only three of the many ways it does so, bullet points below. See the link for details and citations.

1. Mindfulness helps us see the full context for people’s actions.
2. Mindfulness helps us decrease our negativity bias.
3. Mindfulness may help us see others as equals.

Comparing Sanders and Biden

Biden let it slip that he's running for President and said he was the most progressive candidate among the Dem field. Far from it actually. We have to hammer Biden's record constantly to prevent him from being the nominee.

O'Rourke: Insurance companies are not greedy

He seriously said those companies are not motivated by greed. He also said Americans who like their employer insurance should be able to keep it when no one likes such insurance, paying out thousands per year in premium, deductibles and co-pays. This should tell us all we need to know about this charlatan.

"So the greed has to stay in the insurance industry in your opinion?" asked the man.

"I don't see it as a function of greed," said O'Rourke.

On gun and hate reform. We have so much to learn from other countries.
