Identity politics has its place

I just read Naomi Klein's book No is Not Enough. Therein she criticizes identity politics because it isolates the different factions. She thinks they all need to organize around some common principles to be effective. But by the same token each group still needs to maintain its individual identity because those issues need to be addressed separately as well or they'll get lost in the unitarian mash. Or, as Jean-Luc Nancy says, being singular plural.
