Monsanto guilty, must pay $289 million

Specifically in this lawsuit against its product Round Up. Monsanto failed to warn that this product causes cancer and it did. $39 was awarded in compensatory damages and $200 million in punitive damages for "acting with malice and oppression." Some of the evidence for its carcinogenic properties came from Monsanto's own internal documents. 5000 similar lawsuits are pending around the US.
