Why hate speech is not free speech

Good blog post by Lakoff. While everyone has free speech, one limiting factor is that said freedom cannot impinge on another person's freedom. This even refers to hate speech, which has deep psychological effects on another. Even the legal concept of assault does not require physical battery but includes verbal threats. When one is in fear they are not free to express themselves without reservation.
