Reich: Tech and the future of work

Tech makes production faster and more efficient. It will increasingly take up a greater share of labor previously done by humans. Reich offers some solutions needed to protect workers in this time of transition.

1. Workers need a voice from the shop floor to the boardroom in the design, development and deployment of tech.
2. Wall Street must be reformed to invest in workers instead of stock buybacks.
3. Rebuild collaborations between government and business in Research and Development, with government oversight for its equitable distribution.
4. Direct innovative tech toward climate catastrophe, poverty, infrastructure, education and healthcare.
5. Limit worker surveillance via tech and give workers some control over its use.
