Change the Democratic Party?

Continuing from this post, Janine said at FB IPS: "Yes, but the argument is, for example, that plutocrat FDR wasn't a particularly populist president, until he was forced into the New Deal by pressure from the masses...Clinton could be like that once she gets into office, even though she is pandering now."

That is the argument Lerner and Hartmann use for a progressive tea party within the democratic party. Clinton's long history of behavior belies that she will actually do what she says. Same for the establishment Democratic Party. Even Obama, when faced with the reality of establishment politics in both parties, had to renege on so many promises. Indeed, some incremental progress was made, but more as token offerings by the establishment to keep us hoping for something more. But that will never be under the current status quo.
