Petition to raise federal minimum wage to $15/hour

Petition from Sanders and Ellison here. Their text follows:

Pay Workers a Living Wage

Become a Citizen Co-sponsor of Sen. Sanders and Rep. Ellison’s bill to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour.

Millions of minimum wage earners today feel like they are working harder and harder, but their paychecks count for less and less.

They are right. Since 1968, the real value of the minimum wage has fallen by 50%, while labor productivity more than doubled.

It’s gotten so bad that a full-time time minimum wage employee with a family of three earns 21% below the Federal poverty line.

No one should work full time and live in poverty.

That’s why we introduced the Pay Workers a Living Wage Act to raise the Federal Minimum Wage from $7.25 to $15.

We are in a moral crisis, and it is un-American to allow these conditions to continue.

Employees of the wealthiest companies in the world should not have to choose between paying their bills and feeding their children.

By raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour over the next several years, the Pay Workers a Living Wage Act would provide much needed relief for 53 million Americans. It’s time to act.

Join us and sign-on as a Citizen Co-Sponsor of the Pay Workers a Living Wage Act today.

Representative Keith Ellison

Senator Bernie Sanders
