Personal Jesus
I just heard this one for the first time and really like it, Personal Jesus by Johnny Cash.
He did a lot of amazing covers of popular songs in his last years (that was from a band called Depeche Mode, in case you are not familiar with it). Great cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt" too.
Thanks for the reference to the original. Yes, I've heard the Depeche Mode song dozens of times but didn't know the lyrics so didn't make the connection. And I've always liked the music to the DM song. But Cash's version is more bluesy, kind of a gospel feel, that makes it interesting to me.

ReplyDeleteI am familiar with Cash's cover of "Hurt" and have always liked both, but again Cash remakes it in his distinctive style.
