See the comic below. It's the same problem with the so-called liberal cable station MSNBC. It's owned by a giant news corporation so the liberal hosts cannot even broach certain subjects. If they do their prime time spots are taken and they are relegated to the hinterland, like Ed Schultz. Ed was the number one progressive talk radio host but gave it up to join MSNBC. Now no one hardly knows who he is. It would be the same if Sanders accepts Clinton's VP offer. She'd effectively silence his agenda to the point of extinction.
