In a FB IPS thread on Trump Mark thinks Trumps antics represent "a large section of the voting public." My reply:
You
are mistaken that Trump is controlling "a large section of the voting
public." Numerous polls show both Sanders and Clinton beating Trump in a
general election, and Sanders with a wider margin. Trump appeals to a
significant percentage (25%) of the
Republican base, which base is about 50% of the population. Or about 15%
at best of the entire voting public wants Trump. Frightening in itself,
but not enough to win.
And btw, I've been calling
out Clinton's faux progressism, and corporate Democrats, from the start.
Not that Sanders is an angel, but the best candidate. And his policy
statements and record, framed to motivate anger and justice in his base,
have true majority support of the voting public as proven by repeated
polls on Wall Street crime, minimum wage, tax policy etc.
Sanders,
btw, is not a Democrat but an independent. Within the Democratic Party
there are the true progressives, which belong to the Congressional
Progressive Caucus. And then there are the rest, pretty much Republican
Lite, or like the Republicans of old.
LP
is concerned about liberals making fun of Trump, that it might not be
an effective strategy. Meanwhile, there is a video clip produced by
al-Shabab, a group linked to the Islamic State and al-Qaeda, of Trump
proposing a US Muslim ban. He is an ISIS recruiting tool. Talk about
effective framing...
