The Starseed Signals

I was reminded of this today. Timothy Leary and Robert Anton Wilson were convinced they were contacting beings from Sirius. Of course one of the edicts of the Starseed Transmissions should give pause, given other recent discussions: "Assemble the most intelligent, advanced, courageous of your species" to prepare for the journey home. I guess the rest of us can stay in the hell on earth left behind. You know, the devastation of increasing climate chaos. It's another version of the transhumanist dream, of 'evolving' beyond earth to explore (and exploit) other planets instead of facing what we've done on this one and doing something about it. Let's just keep fucking up wherever we go in the name of evolution and progress. Perhaps it's not higher beings giving us messages but just our hubris and irresponsibility trying to rationalize it?
