Romanticizing the working class

See Ray Harris' FB post on this. He's right that the working class is typically ill-educated, prejudiced, ignorant, resentful and often racist. And he accuses the liberals for romanticizing them as decent, hard-working people of virtue. I certainly have not romanticized the working class. I'll well aware of their ignorance and apathy (among other things), even calling them idiots (at best) on occasion. My arguments have only been that the Dem Party has abandoned them for the professional class and why they lost this election.

Progressives can still have compassion for the working class, and even the racists, and want to implement policies that help them. Even to educate them in the hopes that they'll outgrow such limitations. Keeping them locked in ignorance has been by design and can be ameliorated by design. But make no mistake, neither me nor progressives I know have any illusions about the working-class masses.
