Bio-glass could re-grow or replace cartilage

See this fascinating article. I was just discussing this hypothetical with someone recently and now here it is. Scientists are working on this 3-D printable substance that can for example be implanted into knee to stimulate cartilage re-growth. It could also replace damaged cartilage between vertebrae.
