Dan Rather: "A lie is a lie is a lie"

Rather responded with the above to the Wall Street Journal editor-in-chief who said it was not their job to call out Twamp's lies. Said editor played with semantics sort of like Clinton did when he lied about "not having sex with that woman." Rather was emphatic that it is indeed one of the primary responsibilities of journalists to call lies out and adhere to some semblance of factual reporting.
