This clip talks about the Democracy Fund's study on what's important to voters. While the progressive agenda is overwhelming popular with the majority, Dims still fail to get the votes. The study focused on those who voted for Obama in '12 but switched to Tromp in '16. They agreed with Dims on economic issues but disagreed on race and immigration, feeling both took their jobs and opportunities. Hence progressives need to frame national identity in terms of what binds us as a nation, not as what separates us. This includes communicating understanding for the worth of those who are misled by white nationalism and racism while simultaneously framing the issues in a way that includes them. Lakoff is most helpful in this regard.
