Colbert's epic Dump takedown

It was truly epic last night, responding to Dump's racist remarks about The Squad. And he told Dump where he should go back to in part 2 of the monologue here.

The Squad responds to Dump

Pressley said we should not be drawn in by Dump's racist distractions because she and Congress are busy doing the people's work. She also emphasized that the 'squad' is not just them but the people they represent, which is legion and demand to be heard through them.

Omar reminded us of our core values as a nation, that Dump violates them at every turn, particularly at our border. She went on to list a host of other violations including white nationalism, noting that his attempts to divide us will fail. He must be impeached.

AOC then added that no matter what the Presidunce says and does, this country belongs to we the people. She and the Squad love this country and will fight to preserve it, for they are focused and won't be distracted by Dump's antics.

Tlaib reiterated that they will not be distracted, that they will hold Dump accountable as well as focus on the people's work. Part of that is demanding an impeachment inquiry.

These women are the best of our country, national treasures, and we need a hell of a lot more like them in Congress, the Senate and the White House. Here's hoping that all Americans will wake up and vote more of them into office in the next election.

Dump wins cognitive dissonance game

Dillard critiques integral neo-liberal apologetics

Excellent job Joseph. It goes well with my Integral Review article "From capitalism to the collaborative commons."

"The lowest relational exchanges are the most important, because if they are not secured, the higher ones exist in a state of existential anxiety, perpetually avoiding recognition of their vulnerability and envying those who have secured those foundational goods. Idealists of all stripes tend to discount the importance of these fundamental relational exchanges, focusing instead on building sky hooks intended to magically hoist humanity out of its misery. Elitists are typically idealists, in that they proclaim the sources of both human suffering and liberation to be internal, discounting or ignoring the overwhelming conditioning, scripting, and control exerted by the larger socio-cultural contexts in which interiors are embedded. Conservatives are also idealists in this sense, in that they generally place responsibility for human suffering on interior, personal factors."

Stephen King: The road to fascism

What's the next step on that road? By the way, the MAGA hats already are the fascist armbands.

Seth Abramson on Jordan Peterson

See his lengthy Twitter rant. Needless to say, Abramson find JP to be a pre-modern nitwit.

"Peterson is no metamodernist. […] He's a pre-Modernist thinker whose embrace of some mid-20th c. philosophical, lit-critical, and psychological dead-ends—an ideology frozen in the 50s."

Metamodernism in 5 diagrams

From Seth Abramson:

Jesus Christ is arrested, deported

Just maybe Christ has indeed returned and after preaching the New Gospel in the US is now on his way prison? Then deported back to where, heaven, that socialist haven?

Pelosi defends The Squad against Dump

Too bad it took Dump's blatant racism to get this response our of her:

"When @realDonaldTrump tells four American Congresswomen to go back to their countries, he reaffirms his plan to 'Make America Great Again' has always been about making America white again. Our diversity is our strength and our unity is our power."

Nader: Warren/Sanders is the winning ticket

And of course he's right, with either one being President.

"Former Green party presidential candidate Ralph Nader says that Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) and Bernie Sanders (Socialist, Vt.), would make a 'very powerful ticket' for Democrats in the 2020 general election. Mr. Nader adds that such a combination, combined with aggressive Democratic party efforts to keep Greens off the ballot, would make it hard for a Green party candidate to attract many votes in November of next year."
