AOC responds to the commodification of human life
She's right: Contrary to capitalism our lives are not commodities. Human beings have inherent worth and dignity and are priceless. And that needs to be considered in drug pricing if we truly value life.
Christian Sharia Law coming to schools?
Jesus F___ing Christ. From this story. See the link for the horrifying details.
"New Education Reform Report written for the Trump administration would put the Christian God in public schools. An alarming report, written by a Christian conservative group with ties to Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, plans for the promotion of Christianity in public schools and putting an end to the Department of Education."
Former GOP prosecutors: Dump should be indicted for obstruction
It's no longer just Democrats who are convinced Dump needs to be indicted for his crimes.

Former Republican federal prosecutors discuss how if President Trump were anyone else, he would have been charged with obstruction of justice based off the information released in the Mueller Report.
Featured in the video are Donald Ayer, Paul Rosenzweig, and Jeffrey Harris.
Donald served as the Deputy Attorney General under President HW Bush, Paul was Senior Counsel to Special Counsel Ken Starr and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security under President Bush, and Jeffrey served as Deputy Associate Attorney General for President Reagan and Principal Assistant to Rudy Giuliani."

Dept. of Energy rebrands fossil fuels
Given that the progressive campaign has effectively branded fossil fuels for what they are, death fuels, Dump's DOE has decided to call them freedom fuels. JFC, really? We all know they are death fuels, both to the environment and humanity. Let's keep up the good work and continue to reinforce the reality of what they are: Death Fuels.

Pelosi won't impeach
After long and belabored evasion, Pelosi is asked yet again about impeachment. She minimizes it, saying only 38 of the 238 Dems want it. Then she said "we have to do what gets results," meaning since the Senate won't convict then that's a bad result. She has an amazing gift of a seasoned politician: Saying a lot of words that don't mean much. And she will decide for the House whether impeachment goes forward or not, and it seems not is the likely answer.
Stephen Miller rebrands himself
As Stefan Millar. He had to, as everyone rightfully hates him as himself.
Nadler responds to Mueller
It's up to Congress to hold Dump accountable and he pledges to do so. When asked specifically if that meant impeachment, he hedged with something like "all options are on the table." Come on Congress, grow the spine necessary to impeach this criminal in the Blight House.
Reich on Mueller's press conference
From this FB post:
"In an astounding and unexpected news conference at the Justice Department this morning, Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel, came as close as ever to calling on Congress to conduct an impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump. He said:
1. “If we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so."
2. He noted that while Justice Department policy prohibits charging a sitting president with a crime, the Constitution provides for another process — a clear reference to the ability of Congress to impeach.
3. He stressed that Russia’s systematic effort to interfere with the 2016 presidential election “deserves the attention of every American.”
4. He said he would not testify before Congress because his report was "his testimony."
Mueller's statement puts increasing pressure on House Democrats (the Republicans are Trump zombies) to begin an impeachment inquiry. I believe they must."

Dump supports our enemies against Americans
Just the latest example in a long line. As a veteran I say this Presidunce is a disgrace to our country. Furthermore, he is guilty of obstruction of justice and needs to be impeached. When he again becomes a private citizen, he needs to be criminally charged given his entire career of criminal enterprise.
Mueller's press conference
Some facts of his report below. Watch the 9-minute video below for details.
Russia interfered in the 2016 election for the benefit of Presidunce Dump.
As to conspiracy between the Dumpsters and Russia, there was inconclusive evidence for a criminal charge.
The only reason Dump was not charged with obstruction is because of the DOJ policy that a sitting Presidunce cannot be so charged.
The Constitution provides a process for addressing Presidential wrongdoing, i.e., impeachment.
If the Presidunce was not guilty of a crime we would have said so and we did not.
If asked to testify before Congress, he would not provide any information not in the Report.
He is proud of everyone at the Justice Dept. who helped in the investigation, noting they are of the highest integrity.
We as a nation need to do something about Russia's attack on our country.
Ok Congress, do your f___ing job.

Sanders: Expand worker ownership and Board control
The good Senator is "developing a proposal that would force large companies to 'regularly contribute a portion of their stocks to a fund controlled by employees, which would pay out a regular dividend to the workers.'" He is also going to introduce a plan to let workers control some of their company's Board of Directors. Senator Warren is the only other Dem Presidential candidate proposing such progressive agendas; Warren introduced legislation to give workers 40% control of their company's Board. Like these ideas? Then vote for the progressive.
Biden voters are the ones who won't vote blue no matter who
So much blame was rightly laid on Bernie Bros who refused to vote for Clinton. But now it's a significant proportion of the Biden voters who won't vote for any other Dem candidate. Get your shit together Dems. Any other Dem candidate is going to be far, far better than the current fascist in the Blight House.
Warren: Time to impeach the Presidunce
"This is not about politics; it is about the Constitution of the United States." Go get him Senator. "Now it's up to Congress to prove that the Presidunce is not above the law." Do you job House Dems, no matter what the Repug Senate will do.
Reich: American oligarchy

TX Sec. of State resigns over voter purging
He was caught red-handed and was forced to resign. If this can happen in Texas let's hope the other Repugnantan Secretaries of State around the country are also caught and forced out, since voter suppression is the only way Repugs can win anymore.

Fact checking Biden's liberal claims
If you've ever checked his voting record you know it's false. Factcheck provides the details. Bottom line: Biden is middle of the road at best.
"A review of several databases that grade lawmakers based on ideology shows Biden has not always earned high grades for liberalism, and occasionally earned low marks. Among Senate Democrats, he was in the middle of the pack in terms of liberalism. Over his 35 years in the Senate, he showed a willingness to buck the left wing of his party and cross the partisan aisle."

Supreme Corp allows gerrymandering
In Ohio and Michigan lower courts ruled that they must redraw their voting districts due to blatant, partisan gerrymandering. The Supreme Court (SC) blocked both of those rulings, allowing the practice to continue. It's pretty plain that this SC doesn't give a shit about election fraud if it's for Repugs.
Dump wants to kill his political opponents
I wish that was from the Onion but it's real. Knowing that the penalty for treason is death Dump is accusing his opponents of treason for legitimately investigating him. Dump has even approved for the corrupt lackey of an Attorney General to start an investigation into them. This has gone way beyond the pale into fascism.

Vigeland: It's not left v. right but populism v. establishment
Emma is right, as usual. The so-called center of America is not some fantasy of a middle ground between right and left ideology. It is a battle for the majority of America, which is what populism is about. Granted there are at least two kinds: authoritarian and humanitarian. But at least some of the former can be turned into the latter with an authentic, progressive populist like Sanders. Biden, as a centrist ideologically, can't inspire this populist shift. She said:
"There's this kind of false perception that the center is in between the left and the right ideologically, where I would say the center is more populist, which is why we saw Donald Trump actually win, and why I think Bernie Sanders could have a similar appeal with those voters."

AOC on racism in facial recognition software
She presents the case that tech companies are selling facial recognition without our consent to government agencies, so privacy is an issue. But then she goes further that the tech is created by, and best identifies, white males, while it is least effective in identifying people of color. Hence the incidence of misidentification of people of color is more frequent and of grave concern.
Hartmann interviews Sanders
Sanders discusses his new financial transaction tax, union strikes for better pay and healthcare for all.
The House is now on trial
According to Rep. Al Green. The Mueller Report is out and it contains everything needed to impeach the criminal in the Blight House. So now the onus is on the House to do its Constitutional duty. If not, they send the message that the Presidunce is above the law, that they don't have the necessary spine to do their duty, and that they are not worth voting for in the next election.
Fortunately there is a growing number of progressive Dems also fighting for impeachment and doing so will only get them reelected. And also fortunately, if the cowardly Dem leaders don't pursue it, they will be defeated in the next primary so that we can win back the Senate and Blight House while retaining the House with a new breed of brave, strong progressives to get our country back on track.

Colbert interviews Kamala Harris
Harris thinks we should begin an impeachment inquiry, which will gather evidence to determine if Congress should then proceed with impeachment. It has to be done because "it's about maintaining the integrity of our democracy," despite whether or not the Repugnantan Senate will convict. Otherwise we slip further by the day down the road to fascism. It's a matter of telling our citizens that we stand for law and order, that we respect our democratic institutions, and in the process it will expose those that have no respect for those institutions by enabling a dictator. We need to draw a clear line in the sand, for our democracy is at stake.

Dump's Russian laundromat
Brian Williams reports on The New Republic's story. Sounds like treason to me, at best.
Why corporate Dems hate Medicare For All
See Wendell Potter's interview here. An excerpt:
"Well, a lot of Democrats, the ones that I would refer to as corporate Democrats, those who take a lot of money still from corporate interests, including health care interests, they’re under the influence of the lobbyists for those companies, and have been persuaded by those lobbyists that private insurers have a legitimate role to play in our health care system. They’re getting big campaign checks. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee brings in a boatload of money from health insurance companies and health care providers, so they don’t want those checks to stop. So they are in many cases not favoring Medicare for All because insurance lobbyists don’t want that. They’re under some delusion that the insurance industry will be more favorably inclined to support some half measures; something that would, for example, create a public option, which is something that the insurance industry will fight just as fiercely as moving to Medicare for All."

Hartmann: How American democracy can die
And is in that process right now. The Dumpsters are violating the law at every turn, including ignoring Congressional subpoenas. What can we do about it? Congress can find violators in contempt. They can go to the courts to find their subpoenas legal and must be obeyed. But any judicial ruling must be enforced, and it's up to the Attorney General to do so. So what if he ignores the Congress and the Judiciary? What can we do about that?
Hartmann provides some history of 3 times former Presidents ignored Supreme Corp rulings. It was Jackson in two of those cases, the portrait of which hangs in Dump's Offal Office and whom he admires. Since there is no recourse if the President and his Atty. General won't enforce the laws made by Congress and adjudicated legal by the courts, then what? There goes democracy.
Also see Hartmann's article on the topic here for more.

High points in Buttigieg's Pox town hall
I'll give him credit where it's due for these clips. I particularly like his point that liberals have to "change their vocabulary" to reach a wider audience. And when he compared Dump to our penchant for a fascination about gross things.
Reich: Why we must legalize marijuana
First and foremost, its illegality has been an unmitigated disaster in all areas. On the plus side, taxing it creates much needed revenue for public investments. The industry creates jobs. It's a matter of racial justice and equality. States that have already legalized it prove all this.

Hierarchical complexity in human brain connectomes
A new neuroimaging study on brain connectome hierarchical complexity (HC) that seems to support my notion that, like basic categories, HC arises from the middle out as 'bridges' rather than bottom-up or top-down. E.g.
"Dividing the connectomes into four tiers based on degree magnitudes indicates that the most complex nodes are neither those with the highest nor lowest degrees but are instead found in the middle tiers. […] The most complex tier (Tier 3) involves regions believed to bridge high-order cognitive (Tier 1) and low-order sensorimotor processing (Tier 2)."
"The results show that hub nodes (Tier 1(t)) and peripheral nodes (Tier 4(b)) are contributing less to the greater complexity exhibited in the human brain connectome than middle tiers. In fact, this is particularly true of hub nodes."
Also note that "this concerns wholly separate considerations of topology to the well-known paradigms of small-world and scale-free complex networks."

The privilege of ignoring politics
Which to me is basically the privilege to not give a shit about anyone else but oneself and one's personal relations. We as a society are hopefully about a lot more than just selfishness.
Sanders: Beating Dump is not enough
His interview on Meet the Press yesterday is below. Yes, we need to defeat Dump. But we also have to defeat the fossil fuel industry if we hope to have any chance of literally saving our environment, and hence ourselves. The science is clear: We don't have much time to do so we a need strong, urgent shift to renewables, not half measures.
Sanders also counters establishment Dem false framing with an agenda supported by the majority of Americans. And that agenda is exactly what will appeal to former Dump voters, who now release that Dump promised the same things but lied to them.

GOP Amash calls for impeachment
So there is at least one in the Repugnantan Party that still has some shred of ethics to support the only logical course of action on a Presidunce that has repeatedly broken the law and aims to destroy democracy. Hopefully some others in the Party will also grow a spine and defend what they purportedly used to believe in, law, order and accountability. But don't hold your breath.

The Listening Society on worldviews
In Chapter One of The Listening Society Freinacht defines the sociological 'center' pragmatically, more in terms of its dominant competitive functionality than some lame compromise between liberal and conservative. And this is particular to the Nordic countries where what he calls Green Social Liberalism has proven to work best, a worldview that has transcended and replaced its predecessors, a point I made in my paper.
"There is no 'center' in any strict, analytical sense. What we have is one victorious meta-ideology, one recipe for society that has beaten its competitors when it comes to functionality and rhetorical edge. It is this meta-ideology that is disguised as a 'center,' as being the sensible, moderate form of politics. The 'middle' is a position that under other circumstances would have appeared as extreme. […] This meta-ideology is dominant simply because it is superior under the current economic, technological, socio-psychological, and historical circumstances. This doesn't give Green Social Liberalism any transcendental value or divine justification. It just happens to have a competitive edge under the current circumstances."
He also makes a point I made in my paper, that

An accurate parody from the Onion.
Bleeding John Bolton Stumbles Into Capitol Building Claiming That Iran Shot Him
WASHINGTON—Bursting through the Congressional chamber doors while moaning and clutching his shoulder, John Bolton reportedly stumbled into the Capitol building Friday claiming that he’d been shot by Iran. “Help, help, I’ve just been attacked by a large Middle Eastern country around 636,000 square miles in size,” said the national security advisor, telling those assembled that he’d just been minding his own business when an aggressive Islamic Republic had thrown him on the ground and shot him with a long-range missile. “Right after Iran shot me, I heard the nation laugh and say ‘Somebody stop me before I go on a homicidal rampage.’ It was acting crazed and irrational, and I could smell enriched uranium coming from one of its urban centers. Please, hurry, if we move quickly, we might still be able to catch it before it’s too late.” Upon further questioning, Bolton admitted that the incident had happened so fast that it was possible he’d been attacked by Venezuela or North Korea.

'Fake news' proclaims that the news is fake. The use of 'fake' is designed to delegitimize the press itself. Report: Pox Views exposed
This report by Media Matters looked at Pox's news division only, not their opinion spinners. And they found that the news division lied every day for the first four months on 2019, the span of the inquiry. This proves that their so-called news division is part and parcel of Pox's propaganda network and nothing more. Of course, anyone with half a brain already knew that.
No evidence of threat from Iran
Dump and Bolton are the ones creating a threat to Iran to justify a war. Our European allies refuse to join them because "there's been no increased threat from Iranian-backed forces." Dump and company are lying to create a war that only serves political purposes. Do you want your sons and daughters to die for yet another Big Lie?
"The public dispute came as anti-war voices and foreign policy analysts warned that the United States, led by Bolton, may be attempting to manufacture a false pretext to justify launching a war with Iran. As Common Dreams reported on Tuesday, U.S. officials are—without any concrete evidence—attempting to blame Iran for attacks on oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz over the weekend."

Yes, the subsidies helped, but he'd prefer that better trade policy brings the markets back so he doesn't have to take hand-outs. He also criticized Dump's bullshit call for farmers to be 'patriots,' meaning to take the hit for a bad policy out of misguided loyalty. This farmer has had it with Dump. Here's hoping many more join him.
Extended clip of AOC on climate
After some introductory remarks. This woman must become a future US President. We need many, many more like her in Congress in 2020 and every election thereafter until strong progressives are in the majority and put our country back on the road to democracy.
Vigeland on the AOC/Biden climate feud
AOC is right, Biden is wrong. And Emma provides the proof, plain as day.
Transgender woman threatens Ben Shapiro
Love it. Wimpy, whiny little snowflake Bennie repeatedly insults her so she put him in his place.
AOC: No middle ground on climate crisis
The Young Turks discuss AOC's strong reaction to Biden's wimpy middle ground. And remember this prior post: There is no middle ground so defined on anything. It's a BS frame specifically designed to maintain the status quo destruction of our environment, our economy, and our democracy.
Hedges: What greed has done
In the interview below he details how oligarchy has taken over and as a consequence we the people, and our environment, have been sacrificed to the power of greed. It's a very sick system that needs radical change, not incremental band-aids that don't address this core problem. And we need more of the new breed in Congress like AOC, and more like the current breed of Sanders and Warren, as our last, best hope to change it.
The political center doesn't exist
And those chasing after it, especially establishment Dems, are fools at best and selfish, ideological power mongers at worst. It concludes that Dems need to stand firm in progressive values and policy if they want to win. From the article:
"But this idea has little basis in reality. It is contradicted not only by the developments of the past year, but by decades of political science research and much of recent American history. The political center’s reputed importance is a dangerous myth — one that obscures the genuine obstacles parties face when deviating from status quo policy norms; how those norms came into being; and the electoral benefits that parties might enjoy by willfully violating them."

Mars was once run by conservatives
Not too much of a stretch parody.
"Experts Say Vast Deserts, Absence Of Life, May Indicate Mars Was Once Run By Conservatives"
"In a recent revelation, published in the respectably obscure scientific journal Knock Knock Who’s There Science Science Who Too Late, a team of experts from the University of Atlantis released their analysis of what ultimately caused Mars to become a barren dustbowl of shattered galactic dreams: entirely avoidable environmental disaster coupled with unresponsive conservative governance."
"Dr. Philemin goes on to say that one of the most striking discoveries the team made was that Martian governments – which, unlike Earth’s, followed a quasi-democratic model that disproportionately favoured telling lies, telling sweet little lies – seemed largely unwilling, or unable, to tackle any and all problems with a time frame greater than four Mars’ years. Coincidentally the length of time between most elections on the now lifeless planet."

Dump/Bolton lying us into an Iran war
Continuing the last post, Dump is sending a war ship into the area because of so-called intelligence that Iran is planning to attack an American ally. It's a bald-faced lie.
Bolton might get his Iran war
With the help of Saudi Arabia, UAE and Israel. Plus Dump thinks it will increase his election chances in '20. Unfortunately it seems inevitable now. The Democracy Now blurb:
"According to a New York Times report, the Pentagon is developing a plan to send as many as 120,000 troops to the Middle East if President Trump decides to take military action against Iran. National Security Advisor John Bolton has long expressed hostility towards Iran, even penning a New York Times op-ed in 2015 entitled 'To Stop Iran’s Bomb, Bomb Iran.' Nuclear policy specialist Seyed Hossein Mousavian says Bolton's willingness to collaborate with leaders from Israel, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates has provided them enough leverage to achieve 'the dream they have had for years and years and years — to drag the U.S. into a war with Iran.'"

Warren rejects Pox town hall
From her FB ad:
"Fox News is a hate-for-profit racket that gives a megaphone to racists and conspiracy theorists. I won’t do a town hall with them and invite millions of Democratic primary voters to tune in, inflate their ratings, and help sell ads. So instead of helping Fox News turn a fatter profit, I’ll keep building the grassroots movement that we need to win in 2020 and make real change starting in 2021. I’m running a campaign to reach all Americans. I take questions from the press and voters everywhere I go. I’ve already held town halls in 17 states and Puerto Rico — including West Virginia, Ohio, Georgia, Utah, Tennessee, Texas, Colorado, Mississippi, and Alabama."
