97 tech companies, including Google and Apple, wrote a brief to the Appeals Court opposing the ban on the grounds that 60% of high-skilled tech workers were born outside the US. The ban makes it more difficult and expensive to recruit, hire and retain such foreign talent, talent that is responsible for the advances made in the tech industry and without which this innovative industry, as well as consumers, would suffer. It's a valid "bad for business" argument that conservatives should embrace. That is, if they have the mental wherewithal to recognize when their amygdala is being stimulated by ill-founded and deceptive security propaganda.
