Yet another story on the dangers of totalitarian positivity. It's not against thinking of feeling positive where appropriate, just this notion that we always have to respond positively to everything. To do the latter can actually stunt emotional growth and increase denial of reality. It is especially heinous in the workplace, when to respond with anything other than a 'positive attitude' is taken as a sign of not getting along and subject to dismissal. The National Labor Review Board has ruled against such totalitarian thought control.
Another drawback of such programming is that a person in dire straights is believed to be completely responsible for their situation, a truly cruel and callous attitude toward those in need. Conversely, if one is born with a silver spoon in their mouths it is a
sign of God's grace rewarding those who have conducted themselves
properly. Such an attitude is particularly manifest in Republicans and exemplified in their polices or further enrich the already rich and to screw the poor by taking away much needed benefits.
