Continuing this post, to clarify what I mean by 'spiritual' in the Commons context, it's
applying developed, postmetaphysical metacognition to self, cultural
and environmental systems. Or a version of AQAL, if one is still stuck
on that tired trope.
And per my previous writing, such metacognition is involved in both states and stages but
directed at different objects. In meditation it is directed at so-called
states of consciousness, which I think are actually just lower, archaic
stages in human development. Metacognition itself arises at a
particular stage (formal, abstract operations), which can then be
directed to any domain, and itself be further developed.
