George Monbiot on climate catastrophe & capitalism

Democracy Now interviews Monbiot in the clip below. The lamestream media spent 50 minutes in total last year covering the most important issue of our time, climate change. So why the blackout in light of the increasing disasters around the world directly linked to it, especially given hurricane Harvey?

Monbiot makes the case that we cannot address climate change without also addressing the economic system that leads to it, capitalism. And God (and Wall Street) forbid should we question capitalism. Yes, we must address and move beyond crapitalism because it is the cause of climate catastrophe. And no, we cannot avert catastrophe by making crapitalism 'conscious.'

PS: The expression 'climate change' is too bland sounding to arouse the necessary motivation to action. We should rename it to what it is: climate catastrophe.
