"Trump’s
own Treasury Department now admits the federal budget deficit swelled
to $779 billion in fiscal year 2018 – 17 percent more than last fiscal
year. But Trump and Republicans blame it on federal spending rather than
the $1.5 trillion tax cut for corporations and the wealthy. Baloney. Of course it’s the tax cut. Corporate revenues dropped by a
third from last year. Trump and the Republicans are setting the country
up for a renewed attack on Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid –
using the deficit as their pretext.
"Today, Mitch McConnell – always a reliable bell weather of Trump skullduggery – blamed the rising deficit on Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. (Last month, White House economic advisor Larry Kudlow said Trump would “probably” look at cutting entitlement spending, next year.) Watch your wallets."
