It is prerequisite to everything else in order to maintain democracy. Otherwise the rich buy legislators to do their bidding for their own enrichment in an endless cycle of oligarchy. Fortunately the 2018 mid-term elections say a number of progressive candidates refuse to take big money, only taking small donations from working class people and pledging to serve them, not big business. Hopefully this trend will continue.
