What the 60s taught me

I was in the military during the Vietnam war. When I got out I became one of those hippies. And the useful values that I retained from then follow: Rejecting consumerism; living a simple life with a small carbon footprint; expanding consciousness initially with drugs and later with meditation and contemplation; opposing corporate and capitalistic abuse; promoting social welfare; fighting for labor rights and environmental care; getting involved in the political process; defending those who were abused by the system; learning to think critically for myself; learning to organize with others to accomplish positive societal change; participating in co-operatives to enact a better market model and so on. I did tune in and turn on but instead of dropping out I dove in and I'm still diving. These are elements that must be retained in any future paradigm, game b, metamodern, collaborative commons, whatever.
