In his FB post he has a realistic view of Harris and Biden and offers support and challenge.
"Congratulations to California Senator Kamala Harris, Joe Biden's official pick to be his vice president. Here are some of my initial thoughts:
— It’s an historic choice: Harris is not only
qualified, she will notably be the first woman of color to ever be on a
major party’s presidential ticket. It’s about time.
— Problems with
her prosecutorial record, already discussed during the primaries, will
most certainly come up in the general election. This could be a problem
given Biden’s role in the 1994 crime bill and other criminal justice
positions in his past, and we must keep pushing them both to do better.
— While she isn’t the most progressive pick, she is to Biden’s left,
and she is clearly movable. We need to work together to push the Biden
administration left and build progressive power within it. The work
doesn't end when we kick Trump out of office. In fact, it will just be
beginning.
— Corporate media will employ age-old sexist and racist
tropes with Harris on the ticket. We must be aware of these and
immediately call them out when we see them.
— With Harris as VP, her
California Senate seat is now open. We should be pushing for
progressive champions like Katie Porter or Barbara Lee to replace her.
Perhaps most importantly: Harris is tough. She knows what it means to stand up for working people. She'll fight for higher wages and health care for all. She'll take down the worst, most inept, most corrupt administration in history. I’m ready to help her and Biden get it done."
