Democratic socialism as balance

It's a catchy meme but I see democratic socialism as a transitional socioeconomic form on the way to the collaborative commons, where capitalism will ultimately be replaced. As but one small example of the CC, cooperative ownership of business isn't capitalism in the least, if by capitalism we mean ownership of business is in the hands of a small cadre of owners while the rest are the laborers in exchange for wages. In coops the workers are also the owners and any surplus is distributed to them, not some elite that controls capital investment and reward.
