Facts don't matter to Trump or his supporters

See this clip from Meet the Press. Republican Hugh Hewitt starts with the standard canard that fact checkers slant the truth and can't be trusted, so their facts don't count. Then he defends Trump's lies about Muslims cheering in New Jersey over 9/11 saying we can't fact check his memory, which is different than fact. Sure it is, especially when that memory is false and conflicts with the facts. Bottom line: facts do not matter to these Republicans because if it doesn't fit their narrative then the facts are wrong or biased or whatever. And the narrative Republicans win with is creating fear that we are unsafe and laying blame on some dark Other that are coming to get us. Meanwhile, nothing on those white terrorists in the US that kill indiscriminately incited by their hateful and fearful propaganda.
