UN appointed team demands the end of capitalism

In this piece they examine the UN science team assigned to address climate chaos. They concluded that neoliberal capitalism is the prime contribution to the chaos and that a new system will be required to turn it around. And that government is the main force that can do this; market tweaks cannot. It we the people, through social movements, are needed to vote in and support representatives that will enact such a transition.

"It is clear from these examples that strong political governance is required to accomplish the key transitions. Market-based action will not suffice – even with a high carbon price. There must be a comprehensive vision and closely coordinated plans."

And this will require a new socioeconomic vision, one that addresses the various aspects of the situation. The Green New Deal is one such vision that is necessary to break the capitalistic cycle of planetary destruction and turn it around before it's too late. Capitalism is literally killing us, and the collaborative commons is necessary to save us.
