Continuing from this post, actually I found the quote I was looking for in Excerpt A:
"Marx
was right in that, for most people, the techno-economic base is a major
determinant of their consciousness; but he overlooked where the base
originally came from: namely, the consciousness
of the inventor, which clearly determined the base. In other words,
Marx overlooked the AQAL matrix and tended to absolutize the Lower-Right
quadrant, an absolutism we needn’t share in order to appreciate his important if partial truths" (39).
I
will quibble with the notion of the inventor who alone created the new
techno-economic base another time. For now I merely note that (with my emphasis) "for most people, the techno-economic base is a major determinant of
their consciousness."
