What kind of country do you want? From David Talbot:
"Will
we live in Mitch McConnell's America or Bernie Sanders's? That's the
yuge question we must resolve as we endure the worst economic and social
collapse in our lifetimes. Senate dictator McConnell sees no "urgency"
in helping increasingly desperate out-of-work Americans. On Thursday
McConnell denounced the latest three-trillion-dollar relief package
passed by Nancy Pelosi's House as an "1,800-page
seasonal catalog of left-wing oddities." Yes -- such "oddities" as
cutting a second round of $1,200 checks to sinking families, many of
whom can no longer pay their rent or even put food on their tables.
"It's now painfully obvious that America not only urgently needs
Bernie's Medicare for all and student debt relief, but a guaranteed
national income. Even Senate Republicans like Josh Hawley of Missouri
and Cory Gardner of Colorado (who is fighting hard to hold onto his
Senate seat) recognize the critical need of establishing a safety net
under struggling Americans. By the way, that's called socialism, but
don't tell the Republicans who now realize their own survival depends on
it."
