Randi Rhodes hits the nail straight on with this one, so I'll let her tell it as only she can. From her blog today:
"Republicans don’t like critical thinking skills. I guess they
would rather rely on their feelings, which is too bad because they never
seem to feel anything but angry. In their 2012 platform the Texas
Republican Party explicitly came out against critical thinking skills.
That’s not the brightest thing to say, but then that’s what happens
without critical thinking skills. The platform says that thinking skills 'have the purpose of challenging the student’s fixed beliefs and
undermining parental authority.' That’s only true if the student’s
beliefs are wrong, and their parents are idiots. And that’s a problem in
Texas."
